Over the summer, Tenaha ISD has been implementing steps to improve communication with stakeholders on all occasions. We feel it is imperative to keep our students, families, staff and employees, board members, and community informed with accurate, timely information in the most efficient manner possible. After completing an analysis of our current systems of communication, Tenaha ISD was please to make the following updates:
*Streamline Communication with new web partner, Apptegy
Apptegy was appealing to our district for several reasons. We felt the appearance and structure of their web platform was user friendly and would allow our district to share positive, engaging and useful information with our stakeholders. They also pair their intuitive web platform with a modern, yet simplified mobile app that will allow you to easily access the information that is most important: like lunch menus, sports scores and event schedules, and the district's latest news and announcements right at your fingertips.
Finally, the most attractive and beneficial piece of the Apptegy suite is the Alert System. This is a system that integrates with the website and app that will allow Tenaha ISD to contact students, parents/guardians, and our staff with important alerts via text message and/or push notification, email, and/or voice call. TISD will utilize this system to notify you of information like time changes, school weather related information, early releases, bus route changes, daily attendance alerts, emergency information and much more.
In an effort to maximize this system and keep the channels of communication as open as possible between the district and our stakeholders, we ask that you complete the registration packets sent home in the first week of school carefully and completely. Please make sure all contact information is complete and return to the campus office as soon as possible. As a part of our safety protocol, we will conduct frequent audits of this contact information to make sure it stays as up to date as possible in the event we need to use the alert system.
As a part of our Digital Art & Media and Graphic Design endorsement, students will be assisting in the update, re-design, and maintenance of the website. We encourage you to continue to check back as progress is made to our new look!!
Make sure you download the new app; just search Tenaha Schools and download. You will not need a login to access any information on the app, except for parent portal. Instructions for parent portal can be found on the website under Parent/Student Resources.
Let's make it a great year Tiger Nation!!

WOW!! Tenaha and Shelby County...you never cease to amaze us with your generosity! Because of you, the Klayton Lewis Family Fundraiser held at Tenaha ISD today was a tremendous success. Thank you to everyone who contributed in any way: from donation of items, time, purchasing a plate, making a monetary donation to the family...because of this amazing community we will be able to bless this precious family with an offering that will hopefully be helpful during such a difficult time. Please continue to lift this family and our Tiger family up in prayer as we begin this school year missing a very special young man.
Thank you, again!

Attention TigerNation! We are just a few short days away from beginning our new school year! Your administrators, faculty and staff have worked and prepared all summer to offer you the best experience possible. As you and your families prepare to join us next week, there are a few updates to our cell phone, dress code and discipline policy that we would like you to be aware of:
Cell Phone Policy:
Please understand that we are not opposed to students having cell phones on campus. However, our job is to educate and care for our students with minimal distractions. When a student brings a cell phone or any other personal belonging on campus that isn't required for educational purposes, that becomes the responsibility of the student and their family. BEGINNING IMMEDIATELY:
*Students in grades 6-12 will be required to put all phones (silenced) in pocket charts located near the front of the classroom during class. If the student does not follow policy or comply, the phone will be taken to the office with a discipline referral where it can be picked up at the end of the day for $15. The STUDENT may pay the $15 for the first infraction, but any additional infraction would require contact of the parent/guardian to pick up the device and pay the infraction fee of $15. Students may have their phones during passing periods and at lunch.
*ALL elementary students (PK-5) must place cell phones into the locked box in their 1st period teacher's room. If the student does not comply, the teacher will turn the cell phone into the office and the parent/guardian must pick it up at the end of the day after paying a fee of $15.
Dress Code Policy Updates:
The Student Dress Code policy is consistent with the policy from 2021-2022 with the following revision to Hair and Head Coverings:
***CAPS, HATS, HOODS, or HEAD COVERINGS are NOT PERMITTED INSIDE THE BUILDINGS.
* Hair shall be groomed to stay out of the student's eyes.
* Symbols, words, or slogans cut into the hair are not permitted.
* Any hairstyle deemed by the campus administration as being distracting is not permitted.
*Dress Code violations will be handled by our staff and administrators stationed at the entrance points each morning. If a student is in violation, they will be sent to the office immediately to change. Phone calls home will be made when needed.
Thank you for your attention to these new policies; we strive to make the experience at Tenaha ISD positive, impactful, safe and FUN!

Tenaha ISD Board of Trustees Approves Lower Tax Rate - August 2, 2022, Tenaha, TX
In a noon meeting of the Tenaha Independent School District Board of Trustees, a proposed tax rate was approved at the rate of $ 1.0922. This is less than last year by a deficit of $0.01719.
Superintendent of Schools, Mr. Don Fallin says, "Any time we are in a position to lower the tax rate, we will most definitely do so. Due to our taxable value increasing this year, we were able to propose and approve this decrease." This decrease began several years ago with the new school bond prior to 2008 when the tax rate was $1.50 per $100 of value. Since that time, several calculations and factors have created changes in the tax rate.
Tenaha ISD begins the school year with a full staff, multiple projects in the works including building, maintenance and operations and renewed expectations for all involved. The new school year is slated to begin Wednesday, August 10th.

Hey Tigers! We are inching closer to the start of a great school year! Here are few upcoming dates you will want to make note of, along with some of the supply lists we have received for our middle school and high school teachers.
As we hit the month of August, please be aware that a lot of information will begin appearing on both our social media channels (facebook- Tenaha Independent School District and Insta - Tenaha Schools) as well as our website www.tenahaisd.com. Please stay tuned to these outlets to be informed of dates and information as we receive it. Our goal is to keep you as informed as possible with the CORRECT information.
The link below lists supplies by teacher name for a few of our high school and middle school teachers. This list is NOT complete due to teachers not returning from break at this time, along with the addition of several new staff members. Our middle and high school students will not receive their schedules until August 8th and in some cases until the first day of school, so please rest assured that teachers will discuss supply needs with students in the first days of instruction and allow ample time for those to be purchased. Thank you for your patience and understanding.

Become A Tiger
Tenaha is known for great athletes. The program has a rich history of excellence and continues to create strong foundations in small school programs, paving the way for opportunities beyond high school for our athletes. Our current leadership has made it a priority to put mentors and coaches in place to lead and develop strong athletes and students, who are aware of their responsibilities both in the game and in the classroom.
Over the course of Tenaha Tiger History, our athletic teams have accomplished the following:
Football - played in 5 State Championships games; winning the title in 1998 and 2011.
Basketball - made 4 State tournament appearances, winning the Championships in 2003. We have also qualified for the Regional tournament on the boys and girls side on multiple occasions.
Our Soccer program was the FIRST 2A program in the state when it began. The girls team is one of the top small school teams in the state, while our boys are very competitive playing 3A-5A schools.
Cross Country - multiple team state qualifiers and won a bronze medal at the state meet. We have also had several regional qualifiers for both the boys and girls teams.
