The year is almost over and so is your chance to purchase your 23-24 yearbook!! We only have a very few copies left available for pre-purchase. Books are $45 and can be purchased this week from Mrs. Huckabee or online at www.balfour.com. The books will be delivered in the Fall of 2024.

Tenaha ISD would like to congratulate our 2023-2024 Teachers of the Year: Elementary Teacher of the Year: Monica Garcia Secondary Teacher of the Year: Mia Cloudy From Mrs. Ward - TES Principal Passionate, caring, inspiring, dedicated and flexible are just a few of the words spoken by her coworkers. I am honored to present Mrs. Monica Garcia as the Tenaha Elementary Teacher of the Year. Last year, the administration team chose our TOY, but this year, our staff members were able to visit and observe other teacher’s rooms as part of a team challenge and I wanted their input on who they thought should represent them this year. Thankfully the staff and I were on the same page! Mrs. Garcia is in her second year at Tenaha teaching our 2nd graders. This will be her 6th year in education. She has also taught 3rd grade and ESL at previous schools. Mrs. Garcia has her Masters in Education from Stephen F. Austin University with a focus on ESL/Bilingual Education. From Coach Byrdsong - THS/TMS Principal For the past eight years, Mrs. Cloudy has been teaching across different levels, ranging from elementary to high school. Mrs Cloudy says that “ Education is not just my profession; it's my passion. Throughout her career, her main goal has been to provide a safe, culturally inviting classroom where all students feel valued, loved, and accepted. She has been honored with awards such as Elementary Teacher of the Year in 2017-2018 and the Superintendent STAAR Award in 2022-2023 for exceptional teaching and high test scores. Beyond the classroom, She is active in her community and church, She is a proud member of Abundant Love Ministries. She also serves as a board member of the Shelby County Welfare Board and the current sponsor for Tenaha's Junior Chamber of Commerce. Mrs. Cloudy is currently pursuing a Master's in School Counseling at Lamar University. Both of our Teachers of the Year will be recognized this afternoon by the Shelby County Chamber of Commerce at the annual Shelby County Teachers Banquet. Congratulations to you both; thank you for everything you do to make TISD a better place!!

When it comes to School Nurses, WE HAVE THE BEST!! Mrs. Cheryl Flournoy has her plate full to say the least; however, she is always there any second our students or employees need her for a medical emergency or just a friendly face to make the smallest "ouchie" better. She also could not do it without the assistance from our office personnel as well: Ms. Tracy and Ms. Regina. They do their fair share of "nursing" throughout the day too!! Thank you all; and Happy Nurse's Appreciation Week Mrs. Flournoy!!! We sincerely appreciate all that you do!

Today at 2:30, our 5th and 6th grade bands will host their annual End of Year Concert & Awards presentations. The event will be in the TISD Cafetorium. This evening at 6pm in the TISD Cafetorium, we will host the Tenaha High School Triangle Awards for recognizing our academic and athletic award recipients. If your student is receiving an award, a note was sent home with information on the evening and meal info as well. If you have any questions, please call the High School office.

Tenaha ISD would like to recognize our Class of 2024 Valedictorian and Salutatorian!! Our Valedictorian for the Class of 2024 is Miss Angelica Sandoval. Angelica is the daughter of Angelica Tovar and Ciro Sandoval. She is the granddaughter of Mr. & Mrs. Vincent Tovar and Mr. & Mrs. Tobias Sandoval. Angelica has two sisters, Merlid Sandoval and Guadalupe Sandoval. She is actively involved at THS. Angelica has been a member of the BETA Club for 4 years, JCC for 3 years, Soccer for 3 years & Cross Country for 1 year, Dual Credit program for 2 years, Teacher's Aide/Educator Certification pathway for 2 years and the yearbook staff for 1 year. She was named Homecoming Queen in 2022. Angelica plans to attend the University of Houston to pursue a degree in Finance. Our Salutatorian is Miss Britney Barona. She is the daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Eduardo Barona. Britney has been in Beta Club for the last four years. She's also served on Yearbook staff since her sophomore year, taking pictures and editing our school yearbook. She's been on the A Honor Roll her entire high school career. As a junior, Britney won 1st place in the Voice of Democracy Competition for a video speech about veterans. This year, Britney was selected as a DAR Good Citizen for the Daughters of the American Revolution organization. Britney aspires to study environmental law but will major in economics to obtain her undergraduate degree this fall at Panola. She is passionate about actively participating in both political and environmental initiatives within our society. In the future, she aims to work on a global scale to drive meaningful change and advocate for a more sustainable future. Tenaha ISD Commencement Exercises are schedule for Friday, May 10th beginning at 7pm in the Special Events Center.
